A car blaze in Margate in the early hours of this morning (October 8) is suspected to be arson.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of a vehicle alight on Edgar Road at 2.18am.
A KRFS spokesperson said: “Two fire engines attended and crews used hose reel jets to extinguish the flames.
“There are no reported injuries and the cause is believed to be deliberate.”
Crews finished at the scene at 3.56am.
Resident Lidka Ratajczak said: “I heard a bang, then an argument like, “Shut up,” then I ran and called the fire department.”
It is understood the blaze was outside a hotel which has been in use by the Home Office for asylum seeker accommodation.
A Kent Police spokesperson added: “Kent Police was called at 2.22am on Wednesday 8 October to a report of a car alight.
“Officers attended the scene in Edgar Road, Margate, and enquiries into the incident are ongoing.”

Not uncommon for a stolen car ,once it’s got the theives where they want to be , being torched to destroy finger prints and dna.
That car was dumped by the driver when you look at its position on road, hardly likely it was parked like that and torched at random.
Has thanets previous car burner been released? They were quite active on two previous occasions.
I hope it’s not the same nutter we had a few years ago. One night the police arrested him on suspicion of starting fires let him out on bail so what did he do? Yes burnt more cars.
That’s the one i was thinking of, has he been released? If it is same person, there’s no chance they’ll ever be stopping such behaviour, but how do you deal with such a person? Can hardly lock them up for life, but they’re ruining lives .
Toby Pierce was sentenced to 3 years and 9 months in october 2022. If he is out then not going to take modern day Sherlock to think it might be sensible to pay him a visit.

My neighbours car was also set on fore around 2.30am this morning on northdown Road outside what used to be EDJ they had parked it up there. My son and I were awake in the early hours around 3.30am and both got a strong smell of melting plastic and worried it was a wiring or appliance issue so he was running around the house for ages checking bit he found when he went to the shop just gone 7am that our next door neighbour was up there and their car had been burnt out.. seems strange it was around the same kind of time as the one in this road though, maybe the culprits ran towards this direction possibly heading to millmead or something
