Energetic start for Reception classes at Newington

Enthusiasm and curiosity have highlighted the first weeks for new pupils at Newington Community Primary in Ramsgate.

That’s the view of Assistant Head Teacher and Early Years’ lead Joanne Gower who said: “We are so proud of how quickly the children have adapted to school life. It is a joy to watch them explore, learn, and become part of our school family.”

The bright and busy start for the newest members of the school in the Reception classes saw them enjoying life in their new surroundings with smiles, laughter, and growing confidence.

Teachers and staff have praised the pupils for how well they have settled in and are taking all the new experiences in their stride – from exploring their new classrooms and making new friends to enjoying the new Early Years play area and resources.

The young learners have been busy getting to know their new routines, from morning registration and story time, to creative play and outdoor learning.

Mrs Gower added: “Families have also expressed their happiness at how smoothly the transition has gone. One parent said ‘I can’t thank you enough for ensuring my child has had a smooth transition to school. The settling in sessions and part-time hours have helped enormously’.

“Our school’s warm and nurturing environment has played a big role in helping the children feel safe and excited about coming to school each day.”

With plenty of exciting activities planned for the coming term, including autumn crafts, learning within the topic of ‘All about me, you and us’; the Reception children are off to a flying start.

Head Teacher Hannah Tudor agreed. She said: “As the children continue to grow in confidence and independence, staff and parents alike are looking forward to seeing what this bright young group will achieve in their first year at school. We could not be prouder. Here’s to a very exciting year.”
