An impromptu party from the back of a van caused a stir in Broadstairs last night and the early hours today (August 16-17)
Prankster ‘Disco Boy’ Lee Marshall brought his DJ set up to Folk Week revellers, with music, lights and banter on the mic.
Scores of people packed the road for a dance as the van travelled along Albion Street and pulled up near The Dolphin pub.
Disco Boy told the gathering to join the ‘party bus’ adding: “Don’t worry about going to a club, the club is coming to you in Broadstairs.”
The crowd partied to the tunes until police turned up, allowing him five minutes to close it down.
It’s not the first time Lee has brought his party to Broadstairs Folk Week. He last turned up with his party van kit in 2017.
He has previously raved with truckers stuck in Operation Stack and has sometimes teamed up with Thanet’s Shayan Shayegani, best known as Speedo Shy.
A Kent Police spokesperson said: “Kent Police was called at 1.13am on Saturday 16 August to Harbour Street, Broadstairs, following reports of antisocial behaviour.
“On arrival, officers identified a van playing loud music, which had led to a large crowd gathering around the vehicle.
“The driver of the vehicle was issued with a formal warning and asked to leave the area or face further action.”
The meaning of “Folk Week “ was lost!
Is a tradition not a rave!! Go to Ibiza for that lol.
The organiser need to get things sorted and bring the meaning of “Folk Week “ to include the young ones to carry on the tradition.

This “Disco Bus” has nothing to do with the organisers of Folk Week.
Most of the pubs in Broadstairs are not playing folk music,surely this should not be allowed.
