A man from Broadstairs has been jailed after Kent Police officers discovered a cannabis cultivation inside his house.
In the early hours of Sunday 6 March 2022, officers carried out a warrant for a property on Ramsgate Road, Broadstairs, after they received intelligence that linked the house to drug supply.
During a search, officers found a substantial cultivation in the upstairs bedroom. This discovery prompted Giedrius Sadeckas, 47, to be arrested at the scene and later charged with being concerned in the production of a controlled drug.
A total of 33 cannabis plants were seized from the house.
Sadeckas pleaded guilty prior to his sentencing at Canterbury Crown Court and on Thursday 31 July 2025, he was sentenced to 22 months in prison.
The street value of the drugs removed from the address is estimated to be around £25,000. The weight of the evidence bags was nearly 4kg.
Detective Constable Alice McCarthy, of Kent Police, said: “The cultivation of cannabis on this scale is not a victimless crime, it is often linked to exploitation, antisocial behaviour, and organised networks.
“We will continue to take proactive steps to dismantle these kinds of operations and bring those responsible to justice.”

Both his first name and his second name are Lithuanian. I didn’t bite for Brexit, however many people did. If he is Lithuanian then once his sentence has been served he should be extradited to Lithuania.

Absolutely, if you come here and can’t abide by the rules you should be sent back. We do not have unlimited resources to deal with foreign criminals. Staying here is a privilege and if you abuse that privilege then off you pop.
Why was he sent to prison? This is just one more case of wasting police time, and money. filling the prisons with non violent “criminals” (sic)! If people want to use cannabis let them! Its no worse than being drunk, so I understand, but I could be wrong, as I have never used drugs, but I have drunk a lot of alcohol in my time legally! This is worth repeating, because its our tax mmoney thats being wasted!
What’s the problem with a guy growing hippy hay in his own house? He wasn’t causing a problem was he.
If he was smoking a bit while he was working he would have been chilling.
I don’t know of many times when pot heads are knifing people or running around causing mayhem. The worst-case he went to Greg’s and bought a pie because he had the munchies.
