Broadstairs Dickens Festival
A grand parade, The Mystery of Edwin Drood on the stage and a beach party are just some of the events taking place for the annual Dickens Festival from June 13-15.
The festival, which is marking its 88th year, will also include talks, a Victorian Summer fair and music and more.
The event celebrates the town’s link to the Victorian author who first visited in 1837 when he was 25.
The parade takes place at 10am on Saturday 14 June, from Pierremont Gardens, making its way to the bandstand.

Frntofhouse exhibition
Twenty artists who are usually overlooked in Margate’s biggest gallery take centre stage in the annual (ish) Frntofhouse exhibition.
Frntofhouse is at the former Clayspace shop at 61 Northdown Road, open Friday 13th-Sunday 15th and Friday 20th-Sunday 22nd June, from 11am-4pm.
The artists all have roles at Turner when they’re not making their own work – front-of-house, or in the shop. But for this exhibition, they come together as a collective, organising, curating, and marketing their own show.

Isle of Thanet Photographic Society exhibition
Come along to the Isle of Thanet Photographic Society’s Annual Exhibition of images at the York Street Gallery, Ramsgate from now until the end of the day on Tuesday 17th June (not Monday).
There are usually 40-50 prints on display, some of which are for sale.
We hope that many local people and holidaymakers will drop in, enjoy seeing the range of photos on display and be inspired to get creative with their own cameras.

Festability 2025

St Nicholas at Wade Open Gardens
14th June – 15th June, 11am to 5pm
A number of gardens will be open for visitors over the weekend
This biennial event offers a fun-filled weekend for all ages. In addition to a gorgeous and varied array of gardens, there will be a flower exhibition in the church, and an arts and crafts fair in the halls. The church will also be open for lunches and cream teas.
Many of the gardens feature stalls with various refreshments available.
Also bursting out from among the floral displays will be a new nostalgia book by local author Nick Evans entitled Away From The Coast – Stories From Thanet’s Villages. It concentrates on past times in not only St Nicholas but Minster, Monkton, Sarre, Acol and Manston.
Proceeds raised go to the St. Nicholas-at-Wade Church Fabric Fund.
Plants will be on sale over the weekend.
Entry to the event includes all gardens and halls, and is priced at £5 per person. Under 18s go free.
Ric Horner exhibition
From June 14 until 5 July, Lovelys, Northdown Road, Cliftonville
Lovelys is introducing its new exhibition space in the heart of the gallery shop with a show by Whitstable -based land and seascape painter Ric Horner.
Horner’s original paintings focus on the elemental qualities of open space, the energy of the weather and the expressive qualities of light.
The exhibition will feature up to 20 paintings including landmark views of Margate, the spectacular skies over Thanet and the coastline beyond.

Montefiore Day Concert

Exploring the music of the Jewish communities across Italy since Roman times, when Herod attended services in Imperial Rome and later Josephus wrote his memoirs.
Jews have lived in Italy since the time of the Roman Empire. They have created their own liturgy (the Rito Italiano) and a rich musical tradition which has attracted both Jewish and non-Jewish composers.
This year’s Montefiore Day Concert celebrates the music of the Italian Jews. From the Renaissance to the present day, from Rome, Venice, Livorno (Montefiore’s birthplace) and Casale Monferrato, there will be music of the ghettos, the innovative music of Salamone Rossi, the operatic melodies of the nineteenth-century synagogue and the compositions of musicians who fled the Nazis and yet enriched their musical heritage along the way. The concert will also feature a love song or two and some operatic favourites.
The music of the Italian Jews will be performed by members of the bOYbershop quartet, Benjamin Wolf, Eliot Alderman, Yoav Oved and Benjamin Seifert, all of whom have been popular with our audiences in the past.

Ride Margate E-Bike Tour and Brunch – The Big Bike Revival

An invitation for Oasis staff, volunteers and any women who have experienced domestic abuse to come and join Jilly for a 90 min E-Bike Tour for Oasis Domestic Abuse
All Bikes, helmets and training are provided.
Teenagers over the age of 14 are allowed to ride an E-Bike and join the tour. Younger children can ride on the back of an E-Bike with an Adult 18+… You are also welcome to join with your own E-Bike or bike.
If children are joining the tour on regular bikes there is no age limit but they need to be able to cycle safely for 90 minutes. The tour will mostly be flat on the Viking Trail but can include some roads.

The Orchestra from Everywhere brings together musicians from Syria, Iran, Hong Kong, Palestine, Ukraine and India… professional musicians from around the world who have chosen to make Britain their home.
The orchestra plays music from their own cultures as well as new music that they have created and play together, on instruments such as the Syrian oud, qanun, Iranian santur, Chinese guzheng, middle-eastern ney, Indian flute, South-Indian mrdangam, kanjira, djembe and world percussion.
