Wetherspoon beer festival

Royal Victoria Pavilion Ramsgate and Mechanical Elephant Margate

A range of 20 real ales, including five from international brewers, are available during the beer festival from now to Sunday 16 March inclusive.

The overseas brewers, all female, are from Italy, Canada, New Zealand, Australia and USA.

The beers on sale in the festival have not previously been available at the pub.

A number of beers have been brewed for the first time, exclusively for the festival.

Among the festival collection are vegan (also suitable for vegetarians) beers.

As well as featuring a range of different malt and hop varieties from around the world, there are also beers that include cherries and cocoa beans in their ingredients.

The beers will cost £2.65 a pint.

The international beers are Hey Pal (Terrapin Brewery, USA), Estuary Session Ale (Land & Sea Brewery, Canada), Wallaby (Penny Red Brewery, Australia), Chocolate Porta (Birra Perugia Brewery, Italy) and Antiopdean (Brew Moon Brewery, New Zealand).

The festival line-up also includes Alpha Female (Rooster’s), Loopy Loo (Batemans), Chase the Sun (Vale), Cherry Nice (Greene King), Queen of Hearts (St Austell), Mocha Porter (Elgood’s), Grand Union (Hook Norton), Blossom (Black Sheep).

Palm Bay Primary art auction

March 7, from 7.30pm, Walpole Bay Hotel in Cliftonville

The Palm Bay Primary School Art Auction is back with host world poetry slam champ Harry Baker.

The event has artwork generously donated by Thanet artists, with all proceeds going to the Palm Bay art department,.

This year there are works from Ann Carrington, Bob and Roberta Smith, Nat Maks, Margo in Margate, Ieuan Edwards, Mat Pringle, Kavel Rafferty, Charlie Russell Studio and more.

The school’s Specialist Art Teacher Melanie Tong organises the annual auction.

The event is open to the public and is free entry, with no obligation to bid. Typically, the art sells for between £20 and £300.

The school has previously been able to purchase a kiln and shed, a printing press, host artists, musicians and theatre companies and provide drama and music experiences for the children.
