Beautiful poppy displays can be seen across Thanet to mark Remembrance.
In Cliffsend 85-year-old resident and parish councillor Beryl Harrison has again created silhouettes of soldiers, as well as a horse, a dog and a pigeon, which can be seen at Bakers Field, Chalk Hill, outside the village hall, the cross at Cottington Road and on the Sandwich Road.
The 84-year-old used her own pattern for the installations which were cut from plywood- donated by a Ramsgate business- with the help of carpenter Jamie Cox ready for her to paint.
She said: “I did all the drawings and Jamie cut them out for me and put them up when they were done. I have done a tableau with a soldier, horse, dog and pigeon and we need to also remember the animals who served in war. That one is 8ft long and 4ft tall.”
In Ramsgate the Crafty Poppies group has again adorned St George’s Church gates, the Destiny memorial at Albion Gardens, the Sailors’ Church, Radford House and the Salvation Army building in the High Street.
Each year the group create thousands of crocheted poppies to display for Remembrance.
Birchington has again gone above and beyond with stunning displays and Westgate has paid respects with poppy installations and Tommy silhouettes.
Scout groups from Westgate, Ramsgate and St Peter’s have also created displays.
Remembrance commemorates the contribution of British and Commonwealth military and civilian servicemen and women in the two World Wars and later conflicts.
November 11 is Armistice Day, the anniversary of the end of hostilities in the First World War at 11am in 1918, with Remembrance Sunday always the second Sunday in November.
