A man is due in court today {November 8} charged with a serious assault in Ramsgate.
Kent Police was called shortly after 1am yesterday following a report that a man had been assaulted in Harbour Street.
Emergency services attended and the victim was taken to a London hospital with critical injuries. He remains in hospital receiving treatment.
Enquiries at the scene led to a man being arrested at around 4.30am the same day.
Peter Smith, of no fixed address, has since been charged with causing grievous bodily harm.
The 43 year old is due to appear before Margate Magistrates’ Court.
