Baypoint Pickleball Club made a remarkable impression at the English Nationals Tournament held in Bolton from October 31-November 3.
The Baypoint team showcased exceptional talent and teamwork that brought home several medals and accolades.
With more than 1100 participants from clubs across England, the competition was fierce. However, the members of Baypoint Pickleball Club rose to the challenge, demonstrating skill, strategy, and sportsmanship throughout the tournament.
The club’s success wasn’t limited to just one category. Heidi Pile and Kirsty Roberston secured a gold medal in the women’s doubles 3.5 18+ category, Scott Tift and Doug Neve won gold in the men’s doubles 4.0 18+, Sue Toye and Ian Cooke fought hard for their silver medal in the mixed doubles 60+, and finally, Doug Neve and Sheena Maclean-Bell battled it out in an epic three set match to secure the bronze medal in the mixed doubles 4.0 18+ category.
The club’s Chairperson, Julie Daly, said: “Baypoint Pickleball Club had players of all ages and all skill levels playing at this year’s English Nationals – what an achievement!”
The tournament also served as a platform for promoting the sport of pickleball in the UK, with many spectators expressing interest in joining local clubs. There are weekly sessions held on Mondays and Wednesdays at Baypoint Sports Club for those looking to get into the sport.
As the excitement from the tournament settles, Baypoint Pickleball Club looks forward to building on this success and preparing for future competitions. With the camaraderie and spirit shown this weekend, the future looks bright for the club.
