Teen arrested after armed police called to report of man with gun in Ramsgate

An 18-year-old man was arrested last night (August 20) following reports of a person seen with a gun in Ramsgate.

Police, including armed officers, were called to the King Street area and the police helicopter was also used in the search. Officers also followed up enquiries in George Street where an imitation firearm was seized.

A man remains in custody while police continue investigations

A Kent Police spokesperson said: “Kent Police was called to King Street in Ramsgate at 9.41pm on Tuesday 20 August following a report of a man seen holding a suspected firearm.

“Officers, including armed officers, attended the area and following enquiries in George Street, seized an imitation firearm.

“An 18-year-old man from Ramsgate was arrested in connection with the incident and currently remains in custody while the investigation continues.”
