St Peter-in-Thanet team scoop top place in Junior Schools Netball Tournament

St Peter-in-Thanet junior team crowned netball tournament champs

St Peter in Thanet Junior School has triumphed at an annual netball tournament.

The team took top place in the Thanet Junior Schools Netball Tournament hosted by J & L netball at Chatham & Clarendon Grammar School on Saturday 18th May.

The youngsters were undefeated in eight matches.

PE teacher Dan Allen said: “We were the only all girl team, opting to not use the two boy rule in our team.

“Our Girls Elite Netball squad train weekly all year around in their free time. They come back to school at 4:45pm to train together.

“They put so much effort and dedication in. We are immensely proud of the team and entire squad who have played their part in supporting those that played.”

Fifteen Thanet teams competed in the tournament. St Georges took the runner up spot.

Thanet District Netball League chairman Linda Bushell said: “We are so proud to run this spectacular annual event that we have been running for many years.

“Thank you to everyone involved, our wonderful committee, Alison, our fabulous umpires, runners, Chatham & Clarendon Grammar School and most importantly the teachers, coaches and children.

“Congratulations to all of our winners.”
