Man arrested following armed police response in Margate

A man has been arrested and an imitation weapon seized following an armed police response in Margate last night (May 22).

Officers and armed police were called at 7.10pm to a report of a man with a weapon in Queen’s Parade. A police helicopter was also seen above the area.

A man in his 50s was arrested in Milton Avenue on suspicion of possessing a firearm.

A Kent Police spokesperson said: “Kent Police was called at 7.10pm on Wednesday 22 May, to a report of a man with a weapon in Queen’s Parade, Margate.

“Patrols, including armed officers, attended the area and a local man in his 50s was arrested later the same evening in Milton Avenue, on suspicion of possessing a firearm.

“The constables also seized an imitation firearm and the suspect was taken into custody.”
