Northdown Primary School, Margate, has welcomed in more of its youngest pupils with the recent expansion of its nursery.
The Cove nursery is attached to the primary school’s Reception classrooms and had previously been only able to offer morning sessions.
The expansion, however, along with the arrival of a new member of staff means they can now open their door to more children and provide places for sessions running from 8.45am to 11.45am and 12.30pm to 3.30pm or from 8.45am through to 3.30pm. Those children staying all day are provided with a free lunch.
Headteacher Mr Harris explained the changes, “Our office staff were getting more and more enquiries for nursery spaces so we knew there was a demand for quality preschool places in our local area. We’ve welcomed many new families already and are hoping to fill up our remaining spaces over the next few months as word gets round.”
The nursery caters for children from age three until they start school. Sharing an outdoor area with the school’s Year R pupils, the nursery children are well supported with their transition into “big school” as they are already familiar with the Reception class adults when they start school in September.
