Train services at standstill after lorry strikes bridge

Southeastern

Update: Trains have resumed but there are delays and alterations while work continues

A lorry has collided with a bridge between Broadstairs and Margate this morning (April 19).

Southeastern says trains are at a standstill between Margate and Broadstairs until Network Rail response staff are able to assess the bridge.

Response staff are now on site. Passengers can use their ticket on Stagecoach Loop services in the area.

Southeastern say: “A road vehicle striking a bridge between Broadstairs and Margate means lines are disrupted. As a result, trains running between these stations may be cancelled, delayed by up to 25 minutes or revised.

“Disruption is expected to continue until noon.”
