Chatham and Clarendon Grammar team set for KSFA U19 White Cup Final

The Chatham and Clarendon U19s squad

The Chatham and Clarendon Grammar School 6th Form football team will be competing in the Kent Cup final this month.

The team will be hoping to take the win over The Judd School when the game is held at Ramsgate Football Club on Friday 19th April.

PE teacher Nick Argyrides said: “This is our second county cup final in two years after our current year 8 team reached the final last year.

“They again went close to reaching it this year but unfortunately narrowly lost their semi-final. Our senior football team is made up of students currently studying for their GCSE’s and A-levels from years 11, 12 and 13 so they’ve been trying to balance their studies alongside representing the school team since September.

“We’re fortunate enough again to be playing the final at Ramsgate Football Club so we are hoping to receive plenty of local support on April 19th to cheer the boys on.

“As a school we are playing more football than ever, entering county and national competitions for both girls and boys. We have some talented footballers across all year groups and this is backed up by reaching the later stages of these cup competitions in recent years. A few of the students in the squad represent Ramsgate Under 23s and are on the fringes of the first team so they will be playing in familiar surroundings.

“We’ve received great gestures of support from local sponsors, namely the Paul Keohane Sports Fund which is sponsoring the squad’s warm up tops on the night.

“The PKSF programme objective is to engage and enthuse Thanet School children to play sport and it has provided some notable sponsorship over the last few years in encouraging local children to play sport.

“The fund has also helped by purchasing equipment at the school and it’s quite apt as Paul Keohane was a former Chatham House student and extremely talented sportsman who sadly passed away in 2015.”

The KSFA U19 White Cup Final at Ramsgate Football Club kick-off is 6.45pm.
