Quigley Theatre Arts danceathon in aid of baby loss charity Sands

Quiqley Theatre Arts will host the fundraiser

Quigley Theatre Arts will be holding a danceathon event in aid of baby loss charity Sands in April.

The Birchington dance school is building on the success of last year’s event which raised £1,152 for Bowel Cancer UK.

This year’s event will be held  on Sunday 21st April at The Centre in Birchington.

Sands supports anyone affected by pregnancy loss or the death of a baby. It also carries out vital work to improve maternity safety through research, campaigning for change, working with government and reducing inequalities in healthcare to save babies’ lives.

Organiser Philip Quigley said: “The work Sands do is tremendously important and they need fundraising to help keep up their efforts.

“Last year we raised a staggering £1,152.39 for Bowel Cancer UK and hope to be able to raise as much, if not more this year.”

The day will consist of two parts and this year will see the introduction of the Junior Danceathon. The event is open to anyone and everyone whether you want to take part in the dancing or just come along and have a cuppa and a cake.

Sign in for Over 16s is from 9:15am ready to start dancing at 9:45am. This will be a two-hour danceathon but participants don’t need to dance for the full two hours.

There will be a mix of styles from Ballroom, Line Dancing and Zumba, to Latin and Jazz and more.

There is a suggested donation of £5 per dancer.

Those who don’t want to dance can still show support by popping in between 10am and 1:30pm for a cuppa and cake. There will also be stalls and games to participate in throughout the day. The event will conclude by 2pm.

Philip said: “This year will see the introduction of our Junior Danceathon. This will consist of 45-60minutes of dancing for children from the ages of 5 years – 15. Think of it as one big disco! Sign in for the juniors will start at  midday and the dancing will start at 12:15pm. We will send out sponsor forms when people book.

“We will also be holding a raffle on the day and if any local businesses would like to donate a prize please do get in contact.”

Booking is essential for the danceathon and you can get your ticket through Quigley Theatre Arts, either by calling 07900685632 or emailing – [email protected]
