Park Life event for young people and Annual Safety Bonanza for families to take place in Broadstairs

Broadstairs Memorial Recreation Ground

The Thanet Community Safety Partnership (TCSP) is hosting a family event at the Broadstairs Memorial Recreation Ground on Tuesday 9 April, between 11am and 3pm.

The one-day event brings the popular Park Life and Annual Safety Bonanza events together, for the first time, in a convenient community hub.

Some 30 local agencies and partners will offer young people, aged 11 to 25, free and confidential advice and support on mental and sexual health, drug and alcohol use, healthy relationships and personal safety, in addition to careers advice, counselling and more.

Residents of all ages are invited to the outdoor community hub, for practical advice on personal safety. The ‘Community Conversation’ will give local people an opportunity to speak to the team about anti-social behaviour, at an outdoor Neighbourhood Engagement Meeting.

Sports groups will be offering information and free taster sessions for a range of sports including Pickleball, American football, football, skateboarding and more.

Cllr Heather Keen, Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods, said: “There is a lot of support and advice out there for our residents, but people do not always know how or where to ask for help. This event brings it all together in a fun and friendly setting; there will be something there for everyone.”

The event also features a fun dog show and Enve Canine Services will be on hand to offer free advice for dog owners. Registration for the dog show will be open from 11am, and costs £1 per entry.

  1. Don’t smoke, drink alcohol or gamble then? It’s just that oldies use different drugs. Sanctimonious preaching has never been effective!
