Quiz night in Broadstairs to raise funds for Head In The Game

Raising funds for Head In The Game, supporting mental health through football

A quiz and raffle will be held next month to raise funds for a charity that helps to tackle the issue of poor mental health among men through football.

Head in the Game is a mental health focused football project that began in Minster in 2021.

The project aims to give men in the community the chance to come together and enjoy the game and the company.

The sessions are free and for men between the ages of 18-55 of any footballing ability.

Supported by qualified football and Talk Club coaches, each session has a focus on men’s mental health and wellbeing, providing an outlet in a secure and trusted environment.

Margate FC has also been the venue for a 12 week programme for women run by coaches Lisa Adams and Jemma Bailey.

The charity event takes place at The Chapel bar and bookshop, Albion Street, Broadstairs on April 2 from 7pm (doors open 6pm) and is being organised by Jemma Bailey.

Tickets are £10 with the full amount going to the charity. Food will be provided. There will be six quiz rounds.

Jemma said: “With funds raised, people can get the mental health support and services they need. This includes going to the free 12-week programs we run. “Without donations, it would not be possible to run these successful courses, so we are very grateful for the generous donations we receive.”

The event will include a short speech on the night to inform people about HITG and what the funds pay for.

To reserve your spot pop into the pub with £10 cash and say to the bar it is for the quiz night or contact Jemma via email at [email protected]
