Thanet Wanderers 2s travelled to Maidstone on Saturday to play Maidstone Mustangs in the quarter final of the Kent plate.

Wanderers were captained by tight-head prop Joe Carlier in the absence` of their regular captain, Tom Stevens, who was injured. Thanet started off on the back foot when they conceded a try, that was converted, 10 minutes into the game. Maidstone’s lead was increased before half time with another try, which they failed to convert. That gave Maidstone the 12-0 lead at half time.

Thanet started the second half a lot stronger and scrum half Ben Price scored a breakaway try in the opening minutes of the half. That was followed five minutes later by fly half Jake Whittlesea who scored a try under the posts which was converted by Ollie Greene -Taylor to level the scores at 12-12.

The lead was then increased as Maidstone’s defence became fatigued when Matt Jacobs scored under the posts, and man of the match, Ben Price, scored his second in the corner to make the final score 22 -12.

The result puts Wanderers through to the semi-finals of the Kent Plate.
