One of Margate’s longest running music festivals, Margate Soul Festival, will be adding a land train to its line-up this year.
The festival’s main stage, the Sunset Stage, has moved to Lower Newgate Promenade (behind the Lido and running to Newgate Gap), and organisers NewMargate CIC will bring in a free land train to help ticket holders get from Margate station to the Lido in Cliftonville.
The land train will also make a couple of stops in Margate’s Old Town to enable visitors to access the free and community based stages, bars and restaurants around the Old Town on their way to and from the Sunset Stage.
The festival is encouraging ticket holders to use public and low emission transport this year and the land train is part of that plan.
Sunset Stage acts
Philadelphia’s Dexter Wansel and homegrown rising talent Izo Fitzroy are the first Sunset Stage acts confirmed plus the exciting first wave DJ line up includes Brandon Block, Booker T and Derrick Patterson.
More acts will be announced later this month, alongside additional locations across the town and more information on family friendly activities over the festival.
Funding for community and environmental projects
Margate Soul Festival says it will also make a positive impact this year by using eco-generators and low power lighting, partnering with key environmental charities and partners and giving back £1 from every ticket sold to local community and environmental projects.
In previous years, Margate Soul Fest has hosted Terri Walker, Samm Hennshaw, Emili Sande, the Brand New Heavies and many more. The three day festival brings in 4,000 tickets holders, and each year acts as a huge economic driver for the summer season.
Margate Soul Festival will be held from August 2-4.
Weekend tickets are £108.90 (£99 + 10% booking fee) / Day tickets are £60.50 (£55 + 10% BF) / Kids tickets (7-17) are £38.50 (£35 + 10% BF). Margatesoulfestival.co.uk
