Women’s walking football sessions to begin in Margate

New women's walking football sessions in Margate

Walking football sessions for women are taking place at Margate FC from next week.

Walking football is played at walking pace, with players not allowed to run or jog with or without the ball. It is also a non-contact sport with no tackling from behind and no heading of the ball. If you can walk you can play.

No previous football experience required.

The sessions are open to any woman over 30 years old, with over 50s very welcome as it is hoped to field under 50s and over 50s teams in the new Kent FA East Kent League that will be starting in the autumn. People do not have to participate in the league.

Margate Football club is supporting the club sessions which will be held on their 5-a-side pitches at Hartsdown Park, Hartsdown Road.

There are two sessions per week available: Wednesday 8pm-9pm and Friday 11 am – noon.

People can choose to attend one or both the sessions. The first session is free and then £3 per session afterwards.

Equipment: clothes that enable you to walk freely i.e. jogging bottoms and a T-shirt with a pair of trainers

The first sessions are Wednesday 10 January at 8pm and Friday 12 January at 11am
