Margate Community Trust in partnership with Inclusive Sports will be offering football sessions for adults and children with visual impairment from next week.

The adult sessions will be held every Tuesday from 10am-10:45am at Hartsdown Leisure Centre, whilst the children’s sessions suitable for those aged up to 16 will be held at the Forelands Fields School on Wednesday evening between 5:45pm-6:30pm.

Adult classes will carry a small charge of £3 each session, while children’s sessions will be free of charge.

Adults can attend their first session free of charge.

The initiative has been designed to give visually impaired people the opportunity to experience the joys of playing football. The sessions will be tailored to meet the needs of visually impaired people, with coaches experienced in the sport, as well as audio and tactile aids for the players.

Margate Football Club, its Charity Trust and Inclusive Sports say they are committed to providing opportunities for people of all ages and abilities, and this initiative is part of that commitment.

Spokesperson Ryan Day said: “We are looking forward to welcoming visually impaired people to our sessions and hope that it will be a positive experience for everyone involved.”
