Crews attend fire at The Racing Greyhound in Ramsgate

Part of Hereson Road in Ramsgate has been closed while crews deal with a kitchen fire at The Racing Greyhound pub.

Hereson Road is closed both ways from Montefiore Avenue to Warten Road.

A social media message from The Racing Greyhound says: “Please be aware, due to a kitchen fire, we will not be opening today.

“No one has been injured, but we are awaiting further instructions. We are so sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.”

Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of the kitchen fire at 11.10am.

Four fire engines attended and crews wearing breathing apparatus used hose reel jets and main jets to extinguish the fire.

The incident has since been reduced to two fire engines and crews are continuing to dampen down.

No injuries have been reported.

While emergency services work at the scene, people are advised to avoid to area due to road closures.

Update at 1.35pm: 

Firefighting operations are now complete. No injuries have been reported and the cause is not yet known.

The road has re-opened, and people are no longer advised to avoid the area.
