Internationally bestselling author AF Steadman talks about her inspirations for her blockbuster hit series Skandar at the Margate Bookie on Sunday October 22.

Skandar– the story of a boy from Margate who is called to The Island to become a wild unicorn rider – is an epic adventure series full of elemental magic, thrilling sky battles and bloodthirsty unicorns.

Skandar and the Unicorn Thief won the Waterstone’s Children’s Book of the Year 2022, and the series has been translated in 45+ languages, with a film by Sony Pictures around the corner. The second book Skandar and the Phantom Rider recently published in hardback.

A.F. Steadman grew up in the Kent countryside, getting lost in fantasy worlds and scribbling stories in notebooks. Before focusing on writing, she worked in law, until her love for writing led her down a different path and towards the world of Skandar. She is a passionate reader citing fantasy as one of her favourite genres.
