A Margate woman has been charged with multiple shoplifting offences following an investigation by officers in Thanet.

The district’s Victim Based Crime Team carried out enquiries into thefts in supermarkets between March and September this year.

Janine Hunt has now been charged with six offences, relating to DIY items, alcohol, food and toys stolen from stores in Margate and Broadstairs.

The 38-year-old, of Millmead Road, Margate, has been bailed to appear before Margate Magistrates’ Court on 6 November.

  1. Go to Aldi in Cliftonville, loads of non British people walk out of that store with boxes of spirits and do not even get nicked, so I said to the security guard that I would not pay for my shopping if customers were just allowed to walk out with goods and he threatened to call the police.

  2. But with the cost of everything these days what do we expect? Companies charging more and more even when they’ve benefited from Covid, lockdowns etc.
