A bed and breakfast hotel on Margate seafront has sold at auction for £480,000 – £30,000 above the guide price.
Four-storey Somerville Hotel at 9 Canterbury Road (Westbrook) was among 180 lots listed by Clive Emson, the land and property auctioneers.
Jon Rimmer, auction appraiser, said: “This end-terrace freehold property, located on the corner of Station Road and Canterbury Road, has been run as a successful B&B for many years but may have potential for conversion, subject to all necessary consents being obtainable.
“There are uninterrupted sea views from the front of the building which has eight guest bedrooms and a one-bedroom manager’s accommodation.”
The auction ended yesterday (September 20). Joint auctioneers were Christie & Co.
they will be able to get quite a few of our friends from overseas in there , hopefully they wont complain too much about the facilitys
Speak for yourself, “Real world”. I doubt if my friends from overseas would want to stay in Margate when they could come to Ramsgate, where I live.
Lol… Friends.
I wouldn’t call Wales “overseas”.
Shut up about Wales, Peter Checksfield. Racist but only about Wales? I left Wales over 50 years ago so just shut up about it.
There aren’t any ‘friends from overseas’, we took back control of our borders like Johnson & Farage promised. The stories of refugees crossing the channel is just another project fear dreamt up by Marxist Loony left remainers because they lost. Stop believing the media lies sheeple, Johnson stopped immigration when he delivered Brexit.
It would be nice if they reopened the restaurant to the public. It used to be pretty good.
Why do the auctioneers have to say conversation would be good we badly need this kind of facilities for visitors no air b&bs or into flats for the wealthy to buy to leave empty.
