A delayed kick off at the exceedingly hot WW Martin Community stadium as our visitors from the Isthmian Central Northwood pay a visit in the FA Trophy, the sides have met on one occasion before in 2005 with Ramsgate coming out winners in a thrilling 2 – 4 victory.

A really fast start to the game as Ramsgate take the game to Northwood, Rams do not seem in the mood to mess around today and are straight on the attack as Tijan Jadama sets up a great opportunity for Joe Taylor his effort saved by Andrew McCorkell in the Northwood goal.

The game already appearing to be one way traffic as Rams pile on the attacks with Benni Bioletti rampaging down the right wing tenth minute a ball from Joe Ellul forward to Bioletti his cross pinpoint to Taylor who hits the crossbar.

Thirteenth minute Rams open the scoring a wonderful cross from Bioletti to the back post and hammered home first time by Medy Elito. That certainly settled any nerves Rams may have had and they are really forcing the play as first Alfie Paxman has a shot saved & then Jadama in quick succession.

Rams create another great chance for Taylor this time beating the keeper but some fantastic getting back by Luke Tingey as he clears from off his own goal line, it would appear to one of those days for the Ramsgate goal machine.

Rams sub thirty fourth as Lee Martin carrying an injury is unable to continue being replace by Freddie Oliver, no change to formation or the barrage on the Northwood goal.

At just one goal up Rams cannot rest although the referee has allowed a drinks break to be taken, this seems o give Ben Smith time to have a chat with the team to sort out tactics.

Bioletti has not stopped and wins Rams another corner, this is cleared a long way upfield as the Northwood chase out Ellul hits a long ball straight back over the on coming Northwood, Jadama is first to react out pacing the defence and with just McCorkell to beat he strikes a powerful shot to the keepers right giving him no chance, doubling Rams lead.

Rams with their tails up put a through ball splitting the Northwood defence open and Mike West strides in to round off a first half performance with Rams third.

The second half is a little dull after all the action from the first as Rams seem content with their lot and being in a commanding three goal lead and the severe heat not helping, the Northwood heads have dropped and they seem to have accepted defeat.

Bioletti though is still creating and links up with Jadama in the sixty first to create another golden opportunity for Taylor only for McCorkell to save again. Jadam through again sixty third rounds the keeper but that man Tingey is there again to intercept the ball.

As we approach time added on Northwood have a free kick which is struck well forcing Tom Hadler to have to make a good save possibly the only one he’s really had to make but it must be good keeping a clean sheet.

One last effort for the Rams as McCorkell miss kicks, the ball falling to Elito just inside the Northwood half he shoots and with the keeper back tracking the ball drops down just on the top of the net it would have been cruel but that’s football.
