Woman safe following welfare concern report in Westbrook

A woman has been taken to a place of safety following an emergency services call out to Westbrook yesterday (August 13).

Police were called at around 11.30am to the Barnes car park area by Westbrook prom following welfare concern reports for a distressed woman.

HM Coastguard Margate were also tasked by UK Coastguard along with HM Coastguard Deal, Kent Fire and Rescue Deal Line Rescue Team and South East Coast Ambulance Service to the incident.

After police negotiations the woman came away from the edge after about three hours and is now safe.

A Kent Police spokesperson said: “Just before 11.30am on Sunday 13 August, Kent Police was called to a report of concern for the welfare of a distressed woman from the Margate area.

“Officers located the woman near Westbrook Promenade and she was taken to a place of safety.”
