Act 1 Theatre Group takes to the stage this week to perform 13 The Musical.

The  high-energy musical for all ages is about discovering that cool is where you find it and sometimes where you least expect it.

Popular kid, Evan Goldman lives in New York but when his parents’ divorce and his mother drags him to Indiana, chaos ensues. In two weeks Evan will turn 13, can he save face, get all the “cool” kids to attend his Bar Mitzvah and survive the school year? Easier said than done!

The star quarterback is threatening to ruin his life and his only friend, Patrice, won’t talk to him. The school freak sees an opportunity for blackmail and someone is spreading the nastiest rumours.

Music and lyrics are from Tony Award-winning composer Jason Robert Brown and book by Dan Elish and Robert Horn.

Directing debut and choreography is by Alice Jewell.

Act 1 Theatre group based at The Centre, Birchington where they perform their shows.

13 the Musical is being staged at The Centre on Friday, July 7 at 7.30pm and Saturday, July 8 at 2.30pm and 7.30pm.
