The students of The Margate School European Fine Art Masters present their artwork and research in the exhibition Enchanted Things. The degree show is the culmination of a two year programme, Art Society Nature, which has attracted established and emerging artists to learn, experiment, play, question and make together.
The exhibition explores the connecting threads between each student’s practice as well as their response to the theme of Art Society Nature. Curated by the artists, the exhibition encompasses shared interests in transformation, movement, surprise, senses and play. The seven artists work across sculpture, drawing, film, sound, performance and photography where found objects, textile, natural and everyday materials are central.

Westgate Heritage Centre
The next Heritage Centre talk – “The End of the Promenade” – will be on Saturday 1st July. Last October James Brazier told the story of how Westbrook Promenade joined up with St Mildred’s Bay Promenade. This time James will talk about how the Promenade was further developed to join up with West Bay, finishing short of Epple Bay.
The talk will take place at Christ Church United Reform Church, Westgate Bay Avenue, Westgate-on-Sea CT8 8SM. Doors open at 10 am and the talk starts at 10.30am. Tea, coffee and scones together will many publications about the history of Westgate-on-Sea will be on sale. All are welcome and non-members pay just £2 on the door.

Judith Hill Exhibition
June 30-July 26, Westgate Galleria, Station Road, 10am – 5pm
Judith’s work is inspired by a life-long love of nature, wildlife and travel. A keen photographer she frequently uses her photographs to develop her paintings in oil, acrylic, and charcoal. Judith continues to study, and develop her style. She draws inspiration from the work of other artists, including Sorollo, Morandi, Georgia O’Keefe, Monet, and Cezanne.
Judith has exhibited at AppArt in Surrey, Margate School, and East Kent Open Studios and has worked on several commissions which include UK and international landscapes, and portraiture. Her exhibition at Westgate Galleria includes a curated selection of her work. Most pieces are available for purchase.

A selection of original drawings and prints depicting portraits of some of our favourite animals.
Ever since the mid-1970s, Eric has enjoyed painting and drawing portraits of animals.
His exhibition includes a selection of original drawings and prints depicting (as the title suggests) portraits of cats and dogs. Although he sometimes works with acrylic as well as oil paint, this collection will contain artwork originally carried out in graphite pencil.
All exhibits will be for sale and Eric happily accepts commissions.
Eric’s exhibition runs alongside a display of contemporary original art by our resident group of local artists.
Their works include paintings – figurative and abstract; photography – traditional and digital, as well as 3D work, ceramics, jewellery, wood sculptures, prints, greetings cards and postcards.
Eric will be in the gallery between 2pm and 4pm on Saturday 8th and Sunday 16th July to meet and chat with visitors *

Ramsgate Micro Museum
The micro museum in Ramsgate’s Church Hill is open at weekends, Bank Holidays and school holidays.
The Micro Museum is home to Mike and Carol Deer’s unique, personal collection of hundreds of vintage personal computers, calculators, games and micro electronics, collected over more than 4 decades.
At the heart of the collection are displays of computers, games consoles and more from the 1970s and 80s, that important period when rapid technological developments brought computers into our daily lives.
Opening hours are 1pm-4pm and admission is £5 per person, or group/family £15.

Legends vs Ramsgate Select XI fundraising match
A special football match is raising funds to make life better for a little girl with a rare neurodevelopmental disorder, and for her family,
Five -year-old Ella Gonzalez-Bello has White-Sutton syndrome and is non-verbal, non-mobile and has issues with sight, hearing, eating and development. Ella also has epilepsy which has progressively worsened with the youngster suffering between 50 and 100 fits a day.
To help with the fundraising effort a special Legends vs Ramsgate Select XI event will be held at Rams FC’s WW Martin stadium on Sunday 2nd July from 2pm. The event will include special guest appearances. Admission is free but donations to Ella’s fundraiser are requested.
