Bomb disposal team called to Garlinge over discovery of suspicious items

An Army bomb disposal team has been called to Garlinge this evening (June 17) following the discovery of suspicious items.

Kent Police officers are also at the scene in the Craven Close and a teenage boy has been arrested in connection with the incident.

The bomb disposal team, likely to be from Shorncliffe Troop, 621 EOD Sqn, 11 EOD&S Regt, has a Harris ordnance disposal ‘robot’ in use.

Police officers have blocked entry to the Close.

A Kent Police spokesperson said: “Kent Police officers are currently in the Craven Close area of Margate following the discovery of a number of suspicious items.

“Explosives experts from the British Army are also in attendance.

“A teenage boy has been arrested in connection with the incident and remains in custody pending further enquiries.”
