A Thanet dance school will be hosting a Danceathon in Birchington next weekend to support a bowel cancer charity.

The event will take place on Sunday, April 23 at The Centre in Alpha Road between 10am-2pm and will include a Danceathon, cake sale, craft stalls, tombola, raffle and more.

Village dance school Quiqley Theatre Arts will be raising funds for Bowel Cancer UK.

The fun kicks off at 10am with the Danceathon which will run for around two and a half hours, however constant participation is not required. Routines from various different styles of dance will be included such as Zumba, Fitsteps, Ballroom, Latin, Bollywood, Country and Salsa.

Entry fee for the Danceathon will be £5 and it is open to anybody aged over 16, the full donation will go straight to the charity.

Anyone who would like to attend without dancing is welcome to come along for tea and cake anytime between 11am and 1:30pm.

Registration is a must for the danceathon by emailing or calling Quigley Theatre Arts on [email protected]   or 07900685632.

People attending should note that this is a cash only event and no card payments will be available on the day.

Organiser Philip Quigley hopes the day will continue to make a difference to the charity, saying: “Bowel Cancer UK is a charity I hold close to my heart so I hope that we can raise lots of money on the day, whilst having a fun time and enjoying lots of different dance styles.”

The event is in partnership with the core20plus5 bowel screening project currently running with Social Enterprise Kent.
