The Ramsgate Through the Senses festival returns this April for its second year with a packed programme.

The festival, which is celebrating World Earth Day (April 22) now has tickets on sale for  events from food and music to walks and talks and holistic therapies and fun family activities!

Friday 21st April, 5pm -7pm

Launch will be at the Royal Harbour Brasserie,

Festival launch at the Royal Harbour Brasserie with special platters created by chef/owner Adrian Mowl, music by The Snottledogs and a ‘Trashion’ competition.

Come dressed in an outfit made of rubbish and get in for free! The Red Goddess will award prizes for the best ensembles on the night.

Saturday April 22nd

Nomada chef Bruce Stratford

Back by popular demand, Nick Robinson of the Oast Smokehouse will guide two educational walks about sustainable and responsible foraging.

Kent Wildlife Trust has programmed two special events for the festival – Seal Spotting around Pegwell on Saturday and a special safari to Ham Fen on Sunday (the last surviving ancient fen habitat in Kent, and home to beavers, water buffalo and lots of birdlife).

Try a taproom tasting at GADDS’ The Ramsgate Brewery hosted by Eddie Gadd and featuring a specially created Earth Day beer.

Wine Garden of England’s tutored tasting of seven Kent wineries will take place at the Royal Temple Yacht Club. This is also the location for the main dining event. “Wild Food Feast” will feature a four-course menu with ingredients collected and supplied by Nick Robinson and transformed into delicious courses by Bruce Stratford, Nomada Chef, with an equally scrumptious dessert by Jessica Leah Catering. Wines to match each course are from Simpsons’ Wine Estate.

Meal only tickets can be purchased, but wine packages are recommended.

For those who fancy the feeling of clay between their fingers and getting on a potter’s wheel, local ceramicist Mike Childs is hosting two ‘Throw-Down’ taster sessions at his home studio on Saturday and Sunday.

Union Yoga and Café will programme a special sound bath for those who enjoy an immersive sonic experience.

Sunday 23rd April

Features a number of holistic therapies and workshops; Aromatherapy by Catrin Osborne, Puppet and Headdress Making by James Frost and Botanical Cyanotype Toning by Melanie King, all taking place at Discovery Planet on Ramsgate High Street.

At a seafront home on the East Cliff there will be two taster sessions – Tai Chi with Steve Gifford and Shaking it Out with Sylvia Tillmann.

The final event of the festival will be a Music and Meditation experience in the tunnels of this private home. Musicians Pablo Hussey (Chinese Flute) and Andrew Waterworth (Double Bass) perform while you are guided by Charlotte Ellis (yoga/breathwork). Upon emerging from the tunnels, attendees will be treated to a delicious vegan dish by Jessica Leah, just in time for sunset!

Ramsgate Through the Senses is working in association with several Thanet businesses such as The Palace Cinema, Broadstairs which will be screening ‘Fashion Reimagined’ on Sunday 23rd April 7pm and Wednesday 26th April 4.30pm.
