Invite to join last phase of huge 900 tree planting project at King Ethelbert School

Tree planting project at King Ethelbert School

Staff and students from King Ethelbert School in Birchington are in the process of planting approximately 900 trees on the school site thanks to the Treescape Fund.

Students, staff, members of Kentish Stour Countryside Partnership, Thanet Urban Forest and Kent County Council staff worked tirelessly through the rain and the wind to plant around 600 of the trees on the Pavilion Field (formerly the school’s cricket ground) over two school days earlier this week. Further trees are being planted elsewhere on the school grounds.

The students’ eco warriors gained a wealth of knowledge while taking part in the community project.

On Saturday (March 18) from 10am members of the school community, Thanet Urban Forest, Kentish Stour Countryside Partnership, Westgate Town Council, KCC and  residents will all be coming together again to finish off the planting scheme.

Residents are welcome to come along and help at the Pavilion field (between King Ethelbert and Ursuline).
