Man arrested after motorist crashes into Ramsgate property and then leaves scene

A man has been arrested after a motorist crashed into the front of a property in Ramsgate before driving off again during the early hours of this morning (February 13).

Police found the car  in Hereson Road and a 51-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drink driving, failing to stop at the scene of a collision and dangerous driving.

A Kent Police spokesperson said: “Kent Police was called at 1.48am to Hardres Street, Ramsgate following reports that a car had collided with a wall of a property.

“Officers attended and following a search of the area located the vehicle suspected to be involved a short distance away in Hereson Road where a suspect was also arrested.

“The 51-year-old was arrested on suspicion of drink driving, failing to stop at the scene of a collision and dangerous driving. He remains in custody.”

A Kent Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson added: “Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called at 2.02am today (13 February) to reports a vehicle had crashed into a wall in Hardres Street, Ramsgate. One fire engine attended and crews helped to make the scene safe.”
