Poetry and writing at Ellington Infant School with author Ed Boxall

Author Ed Boxall has visited Ellington Infant School

Author and poet Ed Boxall  has popped into Ellington Infant School to work with some of their Year 2 pupils, as well as some children from other local schools.

Ed is an artist, author, performer and educator who has written and illustrated a number of books and poems, including Me and My Alien Friend, Moonstruck and The Rooftop Garden.

Ellington were pleased to welcome other schools to the event and were joined by pupils from neighbouring Newington Primary School and Northdown Primary School in Margate.

Children involved took part in a range of interactive and fun activities led by Ed, designed to get their creative minds working to produce some written masterpieces. The day was enjoyed by all, with some great feedback from Ed who said: “It was a particularly lovely session- the children were brilliant, it was really nicely organised and the staff were all really helpful and friendly. Hopefully I’ll visit the school again!”

Ellington head teacher Adnan Ahmet was also very pleased with the way the day went, saying “We are always very keen to welcome visitors to Ellington to work with the children. Having the children work so closely with a successful writer and poet is such an important opportunity, and hopefully it has inspired some of those that were with us on the day to explore the power of words even further.

“We were especially pleased that some of our nearby schools were also able to attend, and hope that even more of our local colleagues and children will be able to join us for future events.”
