Four men have been arrested after police officers were called to a reported assault on Margate seafront last night (February 7).

Shortly after 10. 30pm officers attended Marine Terrace and were told that a man had been assaulted by a group of men at the Nayland Rock shelter near the roundabout leading to the town’s railway station. The victim was taken to hospital with facial injuries.

Four men, aged between 21 and 38, were arrested on suspicion of assault and remain in custody while enquiries continue. Offiers are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Officers are also appealing to anyone who witnessed an earlier disturbance in and around the Promenade Brewers Fayre restaurant in Station Approach.

That incident took place at around 9.45pm and officers are treating it as potentially linked to the later assault.

Anyone who witnessed either incident, or who has dashcam or CCTV which may assist officers, is urged to call Kent Police on 01843 222289, quoting reference 46/23988/23.
