St Joseph’s primary pupils put through paces by Commonwealth medallist Victoria Ohuruogu

The pupils took part in activities with Victoria

Children at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School in Broadstairs have been put through their paces by Commonwealth silver medallist, Victoria Ohuruogu.

Victoria led a sponsored event to raise money for sports and playground equipment for the school, with the children completing a pro-athlete circuit. All children from Year R to Year 6 took part in the event.

They had to complete a variety of heart-pumping tasks in under five minutes, competing against each other and themselves.

Once the strenuous activity had ended, Victoria held an assembly talking about the importance of patience and perseverance. She spoke about her journey to become Britain’s number one athlete in the 400m and the set-backs that she had encountered. The children then had the opportunity to ask questions and find out more about the inspiring athlete.

The day ended with a presentation of Victoria’s medals and a chance for the children to have their photo taken. All of the staff and children from St Joseph’s had a fantastic day and would like to extend their thanks to Victoria.
