The cheque handover to Cancer Research UK

Members of the 1st Westgate-on-Sea Boys Brigade and Girls Association Anchor have  handed over a cheque for £1832 to Cancer Research.

The youngsters, along with staff members, took part and completed a sponsored walk from Minnis Bay, Birchington to Reculver Towers and back in June to raise the cash. The members of 1st Westgate-on-Sea decided to take on the six-mile walk in support of Cancer Research.

A spokesperson said: “The whole of 1st Westgate on Sea would like to thank everyone who sponsored us. A special thank you to Royal Reculver Court who provided the children and staff with a barbeque and games at the Relculver Towers. A big thanks also to Mark Wing from the King Ethelbert Inn Relculver who sponsored the food for the barbecue.”

On October 13, during a brigade session, Captain Dave Lawless presented the cheque for £1832.17 to Jack Sharp, the Branch Manager of Cancer Research UK, Birchington.
