Mum’s whirlwind move to St Peter’s and opening of baby music and sensory sessions on the isle

Eden is running Hartbeeps baby sessions in Thanet

In a whirlwind few weeks mum-of-one Eden Bateman has moved from London to St Peter’s into a house she and partner Callghan Smith are renovating and opened baby music and fun sessions in Margate and Broadstairs.

The 31-year-old has swapped east London living and a nail technician job for the coast and an entirely new venture after falling in love with Broadstairs during a day trip in January.

Eden says covid had a huge impact on her previous job and the birth of her now 16-month-old son changed the way she and Callghan felt about remaining in the capital.

After undertaking training, she now she heads up Hartbeeps Thanet, a franchise of award-winning sensory music classes for little ones.

Sessions are split into three age groups comprising Baby Bells for tiny babies 6 weeks an up; Baby Beeps for babies who can sit unaided (approximately 7 months and up) and Happy House for toddlers and children aged up to four.

Sessions include everything from music to puppets, signing and speech development and rhymes, songs and dressing up with the help of characters Dexter Cat and Adrian Mouse.

Eden said: “I have a 16-month-old and went to classes with him (in London) and we loved it. He will be off to nursery, but I loved it so much I wanted to carry on!

“We came to Broadstairs for the day back in January- Callghan has family in Whitstable – and just loved it. Since having our son the ‘special; feel of London has gone but we saw all the positives of Broadstairs.

“Once I set my mind on something, I just do it. So, we moved here about a month ago and are doing the house renovation and I set up the baby classes.

“Hartbeeps is a baby sensory class with its own unique play list with different scenes each week. One week might be Yum Yums with baking and smoothies and another could be Frogs in Space! Every class is about kids learning different skills.”

Classes are held at Cliftonville Community Centre in St Paul’s Road every Tuesday from 10am for Ha[y House, 11am Baby Beeps and noon Baby Bells and at St Andrew’s Church in Reading Street every Thursday starting at 9.45 for Happy House, 10.45am for Baby Beeps and 11.45am for Baby Bells. Sessions are £8 but there are also a number of free trials on offer.

Both venues have space for around 20 children plus parents/carers.
