Walpole Bay Bowls Club is celebrating after retaining the Isle of Thanet combination title in 2022
The team won the men’s league in the combination championships for a second year in a row. In all they have clinched the title three times.
The club, which is this year sponsored by Michael Cannon of Cannon Chauffeur Services, has around 80 members but always welcomes new players to the fold.
Walpole Bay Bowls Club was formed in 1994 and is based at St George’s Lawns, Cliftonville.
The Club plays on its own green and competes in three leagues. Regular roll-ups are held on a Tuesday and Thursday afternoon from 1.45pm during April to September.
Member John Mann said: “We have members ranging from their early 40s up to one of our members who is 92 and still playing.
“Michael Cannon is sponsoring us for the first time this year and he is very keen to support local sports, especially for older people.
“We have an active social club and it is very friendly and everyone mucks in. There is a good community spirit.
