Officers are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a man was found on the floor and suffering a head wound in Margate.
On Saturday 6 August, patrols were called to a disturbance in Market Street at around 8.30pm. On arrival a man in his 30s was found with the injury. He was taken to hospital for treatment but has since been discharged.
Enquiries were carried out at the scene to establish the circumstances of the incident. Several people have been spoken to but there were reportedly hundreds of people in the area that evening and officers believe others may have seen something that could be helpful to their investigation.
Anyone with information or footage, either phone, CCTV or dashcam, should call the Kent Police appeal line on 01843 222289 quoting reference 46/152927/22.
You can also call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111 or complete the online form.
what a charming little place margate has become since all the investment and art culture around the old town ?
investment and art culture? Is that code for imported third world criminals ?
I’m beginning to think that “real world” prefers it when there’s a crime, as it gives him or her something to write about.
Maybe “Ms Rees” “real world” is the only one that can be bothered to post, the rest of us see it.
Three deaths , arson , armed police all in a short period, rubbish dumped on the beach and Thanet is a nice place ?
Yes, Thanet is a nice place.
Thanet is a dirty hole on the corner of Kent. Makes me sick everytime I have the unfortunate shift at the hospital. Can’t wait to get on that m2 out of there.
No, Maryp, Thanet is not “a dirty hole”. What makes you think it is?
Seems the real world had got nothing better to do than sit on the Internet being a miserable troll. Read a few of his comments and I can honestly say. What a sad, negative life you must have lol
100% agree, but we have given real world the attention they crave.
In future it’s best to ignore the sad individual and hopefully they will get bored with silly comments like we are with theirs.
Margate is the crime capital of the South East. Full of drugged up trash. The police are terrified of real criminals incase they get hurt. Even 11 year old are on class A drugs in margate.
Mary P, Thanet is bad but we are not the worst place in Kent. Chatham, Gravesend, Dartford, Sidcup, SLADE Green, all have under 12 hooked on class a drugs, Greenhithe and Orpington have babies hooked on heroin an area in South East London mostly old Kent has children under 10 hooked on either coke or weed Plumstead, Woolwich, Abbey Wood, Charlton, Lewisham, Bromley And Peckham, I’ve done my research you have to work here and you most likely do a very good job at the Hospital you don’t say which area you come from /live, can you enlighten us please and always remember every area has its problems some more than others but one thing for certain not everyone is like what you say or as bad as you just get a snap shot of it in the hospital I’m not saying it’s perfect here, I pointed out some of the places which have same/similar problems to us here which you highlighted we don’t slag them of as we know that everywhere has bad but also much more good but its a true saying we see and remember the bad behaviour because it affects us more.
wRONG, AGAIN. The South East is among the top 5 safest regions in England. The overall crime rate in the South East in 2021 was 72 crimes per 1,000 people, and the most common crimes were violence and sexual offences, which happened to roughly every 32 out of 1,000 residents.
Out of all of the South East’s larger towns and cities, Dover is the most dangerous. The next most dangerous is Ramsgate, and Margate comes in as third most dangerous.https://crimerate.co.uk/south-east
I live in Ramsgate and it does not feel dangerous to me, except sometimes when I want to cross a road. Nor do I get the impression that people out and about in Ramsgate are nervous or frightened.
Perhaps most crimes are committed late at night, particularly at weekends.
Reading the comments, a couple of blokes have a fight and one gets a head injury, happens in every town in every country, so don’t think most of the comments against the area are worth reading, however, I was woken as 4.20am about two weeks ago, by lite fast rapping on my door, I found 4 small foreign girls with not much English between them standing there looking scared ”men, hide” so I his them behind my van, unlocked it and got my bat out, saw dark skined adult men running up and down the street looking down driveway calling to each other in god knows what language, I called the cops, who were quick (10 min?) with several cars, turns out these girls were 11 and 12 years old, had a sleepover, kept the mum awake, she called one of their mums (all related apparently) told them to take a taxi to her house, they were waiting outside for the taxi when these mean approached, speaking a language they did not know and motioning for them to strip etc, they were cut off from the house so ran and the men chased them, a dozen blocks to luckily, my house.. Iv spent the last 15 years in the worst areas of Birmingham and not heard of this occurring. Apparently, I live too close to Cliftonville.
Is that attitude of yours mary p the same one that I see when ever people go into A&E , cause after a stroke I think I met you, bad attitude and sharp tongue, thought hospital workers had companion and none judgmental.
MaryP, if you think our area is really that bad then you should look elsewhere for employment. Somewhere you feel safe. It’s OK, we won’t miss you.
Haha margate hospital staff are the worse.. was there only yesterday and yes there busy but no need to be so rude to people woman indrint if me was gave heart problems was told to shut up and wait her turn…. so if margate is bad then look there for the reason why.
Every Area Has Its Problems.
We has some nice areas in Thanet.
Someone was stabbed to death in Tonbridge this weekend.
It happens everywhere in the country , saying that I know what areas to avoid at night , shame but Thanet has gone down over the years 95% of people are fine but you always get a few.
We have had a bad few weeks and people only see the bad not the good.
Thats why i never go out in the evenings, like round the town centres. Too much trouble happening all the time.
