Enquiries ongoing after burnt out car discovered on beach by Walpole Bay

Police officers are investigating after a car was found burnt out on the beach by Walpole Bay – Queen’s Promenade end- this morning (August 16).

The abandoned car blaze was attended by Kent Fire and Rescue Service at 2,19am.

A KFRS spokesperson said: “Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of a car fire by Lewis Crescent in Margate at around 02:19.

“One fire engine was sent to the scene, and crews used a hose reel jet to extinguish the flames. The cause is not known.”

 Crews finished at the scene at 2.48am.

A Kent Police spokesperson said: “Kent Police received a report of an abandoned burnt out vehicle on the beach at Walpole Bay in Margate on Tuesday 16 August  at around 7am.

“Local officers attended and enquiries into the matter remain ongoing.”

Kent Fire and Rescue Service has been asked for further details.

  1. I don’t think the fire service needed to bother putting that out it looks like there is nothing left to put out. Stolen ? Involved in something and wants to hide evidence ? Insurance fiddle?

  2. Turner would have captured that as beautifully as the photo. Burnt out cars in the uk aren’t uncommon. Unfortunately. Not just to be found in Thanet.

  3. The things people leave on our beaches, dont they know its a pspo area.
