Margate man arrested on suspicion of burglary

A 42-year-old man has been arrested after being spotted climbing a building in Margate following reports of burglaries in the town.

Kent Police was called to a report of a suspected burglary taking place at a commercial premises in Marine Drive, Margate at around 8.20am today (August 8). It was reported that a person had been seen walking through the building.

Officers from the Thanet Community Policing Team attended and carried out a search of the area before detaining a man seen climbing down to the ground from a flat room.

He was further arrested following a report that a private address had also been burgled in the same area that morning.

The 42-year-old man from Margate was arrested on suspicion of burglary and taken into custody while enquiries are ongoing.

  1. Another scum bag stealing from innocent people. Keep your windows closed when going out even in this weather unless you want to come home to find you have been burgled!
