Two people were arrested yesterday (July 24) by officers carrying out patrols on Margate seafront.

A teenager from Sheerness was arrested after a craft knife was found in his bag and a 20-year-old man from Herne Bay was taken into custody after a police officer was spat at.

A Kent Police spokesperson said: “Kent Police officers stopped a group of young people during patrols on Margate seafront on the afternoon of Sunday 24 July.

“A craft knife was found in a bag being carried by one of the group and a 17-year-old boy from the Sheerness area was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon. He has since been bailed pending further enquiries.

“Later the same day, while on patrol in Marine Terrace, an officer was spat at. A 20-year-old man from the Herne Bay area was arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker and taken into custody.

“Officers will continue to carry out proactive patrols in the area to ensure the town remains a safe place to live, work and visit.”

    • This has not changed since the early 60s. Idiots always make trouble away from their own patch, never been any different. Just glad the Police are being pro-active, we just need more of them to be visible.

    • Unfortunately the dregs of society are now also the main breeders. Anyone who hasn’t seen it really needs to watch the Luke Wilson film “Idiocracy”. Unfortunately the plot from the film is rapidly becoming reality. People should be made to have an IQ test before they are allowed to breed.

      • Concerned.

Did you take an IQ test?

If you did can we take it you have no children.

Your suggestion has the whiff of a rather disgraced ideology about it.

  1. Yes Thanet has problems but so does canterbury Tunbridge wells, etc ,a lot of the problems are idiots coming from outside the area,we have enough of our own

  2. Spiiting at a policeman….probably walk away with a telling off.Imprison these idiots …oh but we probably havent enough prisons, wardens or prosecutors. So much for getting tough on crime.
Just spent a week on the French Coast.Nice polite people,no hooligans,no litter,no disgusting fast food shops….I could go on.What has this country become.

    • I’d challenge anyone to spit at a french policeman with the expectation of walking away unscathed. I can’t think of any other country than the UK where it wouldn’t result in a bit of robust “attitude adjustment”.

As for carrying a craft knife, no doubt the legal aid team will find some suitably acceptable excuse and avoid what should be a mandatory custodial sentence.

      • The UK now has a powder puff police force fighting crime with one hand held behind its back trying to police in an environment where the liberal brigade have taken away their powers and handed it to the offenders and as a result society is becoming more violent.

The appease the offender brigades who seem to care more for the human rights of criminals than the rights of the majority have got a lot to answer for and things are only going to get worse for the majority of us.

  3. I expect the knife was to peel some potatoes & the spit was an accident your honour. Seafront appears to be a no-go area for decent, law abiding citizens the last couple of months.

  4. Them dregs are our future, were doomed~

Well done to the police, thanks. Your actions make a difference.

  5. There used to be good citizens lessons in our schools but the law breaking Tories abolished the lessons to save money in the schools
but for the taxpayers to fund the vandalism instead. Such is life living under law breaking Tories.

  6. Mentally challenged cavemen breeding yet more mentally challenged cavemen is partly responsible for the plague of feral kids blighting Englands towns and Cities.

I get the feeling that you are one of the many far left lunatics that frequent this site that blame the government rather than poor parenting for the breakdown of society. So called grown ups choose to have kids and should be held accountable for their parental failures. If your old enough to have children then it’s your responsibility to raise them. It’s not the government’s job to raise children, it’s parents and if they can’t raise them properly then they shouldn’t be allowed to have more.

  7. The reasons for bad behaviour are not as simple as “it’s the government” or “it’s the parents”.

Is society more violent now than it was in the past? Or do some people just like to think it is?
