British/Polish folk musician Katy Carr to play Rosslyn Court gig

Katy Carr

Folk star Katy Carr is heading to Margate for an evening of Polish inspired music tonight (July 21).

Expect stunning vocals with beautiful melodies that compliment story-telling lyricism about Poland and latterly Ukraine.

The virtuoso singer is a multi-instrumentalist (piano, ukulele, banjolele, vintage keyboardist) and has performed across the world including with the PassionART orchestra (150 musicians) at the Jagiellonian University of Krakow’s Auditorium Maximum in honour of the victims of WWII.

Her recent trilogy Paszport (2012) – Polonia (2015) Providence (2020) has been inspired by the war experience in Poland and shines a light on the brave and captivating stories of forgotten heroes.

Carr was awarded the Pro Patria medal in 2016 which according to the Polish government is ‘awarded to those who mark special merit in strengthening and treasuring the memory of the Polish people’s fight for the independence of the Polish Republic during and following World War II.’

The event will also be livestreamed for the first hour and people at home can tune in at www.rosslyncourt.com/concerts
