East Kent FC gains Wildcat approval for 2020

GET INVOLVED: Wildcats and fellow East Kent FC players

East Kent FC has once again been approved as a “girls-only” Wildcats Centre for 2020.

The aim is to encourage more girls of all abilities from Year 1 to Year 7 to become involved with football.

Lots of girls are already registered, with older players gaining valuable match experience playing team football, while younger members are enjoying fun training sessions at St George’s school.

As a result, EKFC are looking to enter two new “girls-only”  teams in the League at the U12 and U10 age range,

The club would like to enter more teams at various age levels but they also require new volunteers to help coach and manage the teams, who play on Saturday mornings.

Club Chairman Dave Marlow and “girls-only” Lead Coach Gemma Mather said “We have been overwhelmed by the personality, energy and enthusiasm these girls have shown and we would love to be able to give them all an opportunity to play against other “girl-only” teams, however we need more volunteers, preferably women, to help coach these girls.

“This would be a great opportunity for any girls who play or love football to get involved. More specifically, it would be ideal for any 6th Form pupils or college/university students who are involved in sport/leisure to get additional experience. The club would place the volunteers on an FA Level 1 training course which is an excellent qualification to have, as well as providing them with the resources and support to play and train the girls.”

Anyone over 16 who is interested in getting involved in girls only football, or indeed any girls in Year 1 to Year 7 who want to play, should email [email protected] or call Dave on 07970659562.
