Services early hours call out to person in sea off Margate

Margate RNLI inshore lifeboat 'Alfred Alexander Staden' (RNLI Margate)

Margate’s RNLI inshore lifeboat has assisted shore agencies in a search for a person thought to be in difficulties in the sea.

UK Coastguard was contacted by Kent Police at around 2.30am this morning (Monday 27 January) asking for assistance in locating the person.

The inshore lifeboat was tasked and along with police officers and members of Margate Coastguard Rescue Team carried out a coastline and inshore waters search off Margate.

After around an hour it was established the person was no longer in the sea and all units were stood down.
