Changing Places facilities to open at Westwood Cross

The facility opens on Saturday

Fully accessible toilet facilities will be opening at Westwood Cross on Saturday (January 25).

An adult sized hoist will be installed in the accessible toilet in addition to the height adjustable bench, accessible handles and state-of-the-art alarm system already in place.

Centre manager Francesca Donovan said: “We strive to ensure Westwood Cross is accessible to all our guests and are delighted our facilities will now meet the requirements of Changing Places toilets.

“Changing Places facilities can be life changing for people with disabilities, allowing them to go out in the public without fear or stress. They are larger than standard disabled toilets and have extra equipment like adult-sized changing benches and hoist.

“The next area of focus for Westwood Cross will be the parent and child toilet facilities, we will be asking for any suggestions via social media.”

Changing Places launched a campaign on behalf of the 250,000+ people who cannot use standard accessible toilets, to ensure there are enough Changing Places toilets across the country. The addition of a hoist at the Westwood Cross facilities means customers can use the centre with dignity and ease.

The accessible toilets will be closed and will reopen on Saturday. During this time, customers can use the toilet facilities in Debenhams and M&S.
