Margate cocaine dealer jailed for two-and-a-half years

JAILED: Ryan Riddell-Broomfield

A Margate cocaine dealer who tried to speed away from police officers has been jailed for two-and-a-half years.

Ryan Riddell-Broomfield, 29, was seen to accelerate in the black BMW he was driving when he noticed the patrol car behind him in Ramsgate Road, Margate, on Sunday, March 17, 2019.

He was followed for a short distance before stopping when officers indicated for him to pull over.

Riddell-Broomfield was then searched and found to be in possession of £235 cash and cocaine.

He was arrested before a further search was carried out at his home address in Lister Road, Margate, where officers found £454 in coins and further packets of cocaine, ecstasy tablets and drug-related equipment. Evidence of drug dealing was also discovered in conversations found on his mobile phone.

Riddell-Broomfield pleaded guilty to two counts of possession with intent to supply class A drugs and was sentenced at Canterbury Crown Court on Thursday (January 16).

Investigating officer PC Chris Bungard said: “Offenders like Ryan Riddell-Broomfield play a key role in the supply of drugs in Kent, which can often have a devastating impact on the lives of those who abuse such harmful substances.

“He has expressed regret for his actions and I hope he can use the time he will now spend in prison to turn his life around.”

  1. there will be many others happy to supply his customers
if his only crime is drugs then jail time is stupid. it wont prevent anything. and the bigger dealers who are more heavilty involved and will be committing more crimes are still sitting around happy.

    • On the other hand , its nasty individual , willing to make his way through life contributing nothing to society and taking what he can, by all means let him go his way to do as he pleases, but by the same measure can i decide not to pay my taxes and live the way i choose unchecked? I’ll not be dealing drugs, unlikely to commit any offences and will have more in my pocket to spend as i please and so to some extent support local businesses, rather looks as though my idea is ok, but pretty sure it’d be dealt with more harshly than the subject of the article.

    • Just let him go then?
He may well be just a small cog but drugs are behind a huge proportion of all crimes and the rest of us suffer for it.
Double his sentence more like, then double it again if he doesn’t learn, the same for everyone involved in the illegal drugs trade. It ruins lives, ruins health, kills people and until you can think of a better way, a more effective way, locking them up will suffice.
I cannot believe your thoughts on this.

  2. Ed, Cocaine dealers are worthless individuals whose products cause misery, suffering and sometimes death to its users. This drug dealer is literally ruining people’s lives and actually deserves a longer sentence for the misery he has caused.

Drug dealing is not a victimless crime and only breeds further criminality from its addict users, shoplifting and mugging as just a couple of examples . Every drug dealer locked up in prison is a lowlife removed from civil society and every drug dealer jailed is unable to sell their potential life endangering products to another generation of young kids.

As Ton has already stated, drugs like cocaine ruin people’s health, ruin users lives, kill a lot of their users and are a burden to the rest of the tax paying community.
The only place suitable for a drugs dealer is a prison cell. Perhaps if you caught this drug dealer selling cocaine to your young son or daughter you might have a better understanding of the damage these criminals have on our society.

  3. This is not possible. It’s fake news. Drug dealers only ever get a “slap on the wrist”.
Many well informed correspondents tell us so on this forum on a daily basis.

  4. Has anyone here visited Malaysia? On the visa or border entry form, as well as at the border post/airport there are signs everywhere, clearly marked of a skull and crossbones with the caption: “WARNING! DEATH FOR DRUGS IN MALAYSIA”. Of course, the UK is too soft and lefty to even think of contemplating such a solution.
